Are you open to the public/are you a visitors centre?

Due to COVID-19 we have been closed since the end of March and unfortunately have not been in a position to reopen yet. 

How do I book a private flying experience?

Whilst we are closed our British Bird of Prey Centre in The National Botanic Garden of Wales is open and you can now book your experience online HERE

Where will my private flying experience take place?

Your experience will take place at The National Botanic Garden of Wales in Carmarthenshire, SA32 8HN. You'll receive directions as part of your order confirmation.

Where should I meet you?

When you arrive please follow the directions attached to your booking. Please arrive 5 minutes before your experience start time to ensure you are able to spend the maximum amount of time flying. We are unable to add more time due to lateness.

What should I wear for my experience?

Dress for the weather and wear footwear that is comfortable for you to walk in for the duration of your experience. Some of your experience could take place on grass that could be damp, so please take this into consideration. The owls will not mind what you wear!

Can I come and watch my family/friends fly on their experience?

Of course, if you have a friend or family member coming out flying and you would like to tag along and take photos then you are more than welcome. Spectator tickets can be pre-paid on booking or purchased on the day for £10 per person.

Can I take photos?

Yes! Please click away and don’t forget to send us them if you get any good ones

Do age restrictions apply?

It is safe for anyone to fly as we have birds to suit all ages. However, on our private experiences, anyone under 18 must be accompanied by a full paying 'flying' adult. We don’t charge for under 5’s in your group, they are welcome to join in if they are brave enough. 

Our booking system will ask you for the ages of your party. This is to help us select the most suitable owls for your party.

Is it suitable for people with walking difficulties?

As all of our experiences are private, then we can tailor them to your needs. You are able to walk as much or as little as you like. There are some minor inclines but we can stop as often as you like or stay in one place. We've also had guests bring lawn chairs if you prefer not to stand for long periods of time. 

The paths around the Garden are very well kept. 

Is it suitable for people with learning difficulties?

Of course, animals are a fantastic way to learn for anyone. We do not charge for support workers/ personal assistants to come along and watch/support.

What happens if it rains?

If it is just a bit drizzly then the owls will fly fine and we can dodge the showers. If the forecast is for torrential rain we will contact you beforehand and attempt to rearrange. We want you to have the best experience possible and having heavy rain blurring your photos or owls sat in trees is not ideal.

How do I receive my voucher?

It will be emailed to you automatically after you checkout. If your voucher does not come through instantly please remember to check your spam/junk mail. Any problems please email the office with your order number.

I’ve bought/received a voucher, what happens next?

Once you know what date you’d like to come and fly, click on the book now buttons anywhere on the website and use your code to choose the best day and time for you.

What happens if I lose my voucher?

As the vouchers are automated, they are kept on our system, so if you lose your voucher just email us and we can check that it’s valid and resend it to you.

How long is my voucher valid for?

1 year from the date of purchase. We advise that you book your experience as soon as you have a suitable date as we get very busy in the summer months and at weekends.

What happens if my voucher is close to expiring but I won’t have time to use it?

We can extend your voucher for an additional 3 months if it is nearing the expiry date.

What happens if my voucher expires?

Once expired vouchers are not able to be redeemed or extended. We recommend using your vouchers as soon as possible.

Do you do discounts for large groups (6+)?

Yes, just give us an email and we’ll see what we can do for you if you have 6 or more people who want to fly on our private experiences.

Can I bring my dog to my experience?

We would kindly ask our guests not bring dogs on experiences, even friendly dogs. They will be unable to walk around with us to ensure the safety of the birds. Pets are best left with a friend or at home, not in the car while you fly.
